SEIU Healthcare Indiana home care aides— joined by our allies in the senior and disability rights communities— called on our representatives in the Health Finance Committee to take action to strengthen Indiana’s home care system and make home care reform a priority for the Indiana legislative Summer Study Committee.

Members take action to prevent home care cuts!

   Illinois AARP and Jane Addams Senior Caucus, are
   taking immediate action following the
   announcement that the state plans to cut service
   hours for senior consumers and workers in the
   Illinois Department on Aging Community Care
   Program. We’re making hundreds of phone calls
   urging the Governor to stop the cuts, and
   planning a rally this Thursday in Chicago’s State
   of Illinois building. We will not sit back while the
   services 12,000 home care workers and over
   50,000 seniors depend on are threatened.
   Quality care must be a priority!



Personal Assistants win healthcare, higher wages with new contract

Personal Assistants in the IDHS/ORS program ratified a  historic contract agreement that took effect July 1. Members feel the agreement will help slow turnover in the industry by moving toward a living wage and providing health benefits for thousands of home care workers caring for people with disabilities.
