Lobbying our elected officials

Center workers and owners join the fight for a fair budget

Center workers at lobby dayOn May 13th, a group of center workers joined fellow child care providers, community advocates and working families from the Campaign for Illinois' Future - a broad and growing coalition of organizations committed to ensuring a fair budget for working families in Illinois - to talk to our elected officials about the need for a fair budget - one that
                                              protects critical programs like
child care from harmful cuts now
                                              and for the future.

The budget fight of our lives!

Stop child care cuts sign_lobby day

The state’s $12.4 billion budget deficit and a proposed $50 million cut to the Child Care Assistance Program are seriously threatening future care for Illinois’ children. That’s why SEIU Child Care & Early Learning has joined the Campaign for Illinois’ Future – a broad coalition of community, advocacy and labor organizations committed to protecting vital public services like child care from harmful cuts in the state budget.

Center workers share our experiences

Centers meeting

In March, teachers and teacher assistants from privately owned, non-profit and church-based child care centers held meetings to discuss the experiences we all share. It was a great opportunity to get to know each other and share our stories.

Home child care providers fight to improve the system

For years, home child care providers have been coming together to address the challenges they face. In 2005, they united for a voice in the Child Care Assistance Program resulting in improvements across the industry. This year, they're negotiating their second contract, and it could mean significant improvements for the future of child care in our state.

The SEIU Alliance for Quality Child Care

Child care centers across the state are coming together in the SEIU Alliance for Quality Care to ensure quality child care for all Illinois children in need.
